Crowns-A crown, also called a "cap" or "jacket" will restore a broken, heavily
filled or cracked tooth to its original size and shape. We use natural tooth colored porcelain to make the crown. A crown may also be
recommended on posterior teeth after root canal therapy has been completed as the tooth tends
to become brittle and may fracture. Crowns can strengthen and protect the
remaining tooth structure and improve the appearance of your teeth.
A Veneer is a thin layer of porcelain, usually between .5 and 1mm thick, that covers the front of your tooth in order to reshape and change the color. The veneer is more conservative leaving more of your tooth structure intact. It can transform discolored or somewhat crooked teeth into a more perfect smile!
Inlays and Onlays are fillings made of porcelain outside of the mouth and then bonded into your tooth. If your tooth needs a large filling we may recommend the Inlay or Onlay restoration. Inlays fit within the tooth, Onlays also cover one or more of the cusps of the tooth.
Our office has the CEREC 3-D® CAD-CAM computer and milling machine that enables our doctors to
complete your tooth colored all porcelain crown, veneer or inlay usually in the same day. There is no temporary or
waiting!
